Identification units
Two identification units in Amanita are keyed out separately.
- Amanita (other) covers the bulk of species in this very diverse genus.
- Amanita (no volva) is utilised because there are some species of Amanita where a volva (a highly distinctive character that is usually present) is poorly developed or not evident. Species that fall into this unit belong to sections Lepidella and Validae, and include A. armeniaca, A. chlorophylla, A. conicogrisea and A. farinacea.
