Stipe position: absent (sessile)

Stipe position should be assessed on mature fruit-bodies. If the position varies from immature to mature fruit-bodies, record this feature from the mature fruit-bodies. When the stipe is not central, it may be quite short in relation to the pileus diameter.

Choose this state if: there is no stipe. The pileus is attached directly to the substrate. The attachment can be along one side of the pileus (either narrowly or broadly), or the pileus can hang down from the underside of the substrate, with the attachment from the centre of the pileus. If the latter, and the apex of the pileus is drawn out, then there is a pseudostipe. Where there is no stipe, the lamellae often appear to radiate from a point.
