Spore shape (ratio length/width): elongate (1.60-2.00)
images/Spore_shape_(ratio_lengthwidth)_elongate_(1.60-2.00)/Spore_shape_oblong.jpg
This feature relates to the shape of the spore based solely on the ratio of the length to the width (Q=Length/Width).

Generalised terms are used that refer to the overall shape, on a scale from whether more or less equal in length and width (globose, with Q about 1.00) to very much longer than wide (cylindrical, with Q around 2.50). The terms are not meant to imply that the spores are rounded in outline, since in some cases spores can be angular or otherwise irregular in outline [see Spore outline (side and front)].

Choose this state if: spores are elongate, with Q between 1.60 and 2.00. Another term used for this shape is oblong.
