A plage (from the French for beach) is a smooth or comparatively smooth area on the spore just above the hilar appendage on the inner (adaxial) side, which is delimited from the rest of the spore surface by a line (which may be indistinct). The plage may stain in Melzer's Reagent (when it is called a hilar or suprahilar spot).
Choose this state if: spores do not have a plage. Ornamentation may be somewhat reduced in the area above the hilar appendage, but there is no delimiting line for this area.
