Pleurocystidia apex shape: capitate
images/Pleurocystidia_apex_shape_capitate/Cystidia_apex-capitate_padded.jpg
This feature relates to the shape of the apex of pleurocystidia, irrespective of the overall shape (Pleurocystidia shape) and any branching (Pleurocystidia branched).

Where a mix of apex shapes is present, select the differentiated state/s (capitate and/or mucronate or rostrate).

Choose this state if: at the apex of the cystidium there is a distinct, rounded head (caput or capitulum) usually subtended by a narrower segment (neck). Another term for this state is capitulate. When capitate cystidia are lageniform (widest towards the base), the whole cystidium is described as tibiform (when the neck is long and narrow) or lecythiform (when the neck is short).
