Pileus consistency: rubbery, leathery or papery

Pileus consistency is determined by attempting to deform the pileus by pressing and bending. This feature must be determined on fresh material that is not overmature or waterlogged.

Choose this state if: the pileus is tough, and either has some moisture (rubbery) or is quite dry (leathery or papery). A rubbery or leathery pileus does not break easily on bending and pressure applied to the flesh does not easily dent it.
