Pileus consistency is determined by attempting to deform the pileus by pressing and bending. This feature must be determined on fresh material that is not overmature or waterlogged.
Choose this state if: the pileus is fleshy. This is the most usual state for agarics, with the pileus not breaking apart or splitting readily on normal handling. However, on bending, the pileus will break. The consistency of the context is fleshy and firm, but it can be compressed, as in the Button Mushroom (Agaricus bisporus.)
