The partial veil, when present, connects the edge of the pileus to the stipe. The veil is intact when young, and breaks as the pileus expands on maturity. Observe this feature on immature specimens, but not on primordia (where the stipe has not begun to elongate).

Choose this state if: the partial veil when young is very slimy. It may be arachnoid or membranous, but is so slimy that it can be difficult to make an unambiguous choice.
This type of veil is usually associated with a glutinous or viscid lower stipe.
