Partial veil when young: arachnoid (cortina)
images/Partial_veil_when_young_arachnoid_(cortina)/Partial_veil_when_young_-_arachnoid.jpg
The partial veil, when present, connects the edge of the pileus to the stipe. The veil is intact when young, and breaks as the pileus expands on maturity. Observe this feature on immature specimens, but not on primordia (where the stipe has not begun to elongate).

If the fruit-bodies are mature and the veil has broken see partial veil remains.

Choose this state if: the partial veil is arachnoid, made up of separate fine fibres like the silk in a cobweb. This type of partial veil is called a cortina.

When the cortina breaks as the pileus expands with maturity, it eventually leaves a ring zone on the stipe.
