Mount a cross section of a lamella in Melzer's Reagent. Compare the colour of the walls of the tramal hyphae in Melzer's Reagent to the colour in a water mount.
In general, this character is only utilised for genera with a white or pale spore print.
Choose this state if: hyphae of the lamellar trama have walls which are reddish brown to wine red in Melzer's Reagent. This reaction is also called pseudoamlyoid.
