Distribution: Northern Territory

Distribution is given by states and territories.

Distribution information is patchy, particularly for the Northern Territory. It would not be unexpected for some taxa to have wider distributions than currently known, so use this feature with care. If you have a new occurrence of a genus for a particular geographic region, the taxon represented by your specimen will be eliminated from Taxa Remaining if you choose that region. To overcome this type of incorrect elimination of taxa by use of distribution infiormation, many taxon/geogrpahic area combinations have been coded as possible ('uncertain'), in particular for situations where a taxon is not currently known from a geographic region but present in two regions on either side, or else known to occur in similar habitats in adjacent regions.

Choose this state if: the collection you are identifying is from the Northern Territory.

Because distribution information for the Northern Territory (N.T.) is particularly poor, most of the taxa not yet recorded from N.T. are coded as 'uncertain' for occurrence in that region. Therefore, these taxa will not be eliminated from the key if N.T. is selected.
