Two identification units in Oudemansiella are keyed out separately.

• Oudemansiella exannulata grows directly on wood.

• Oudemansiella (other) includes the remaining species including those previously placed in the genus Xerula. These are characterised by fruit-bodies that occur on the ground and have a pseudorhiza.
