Identification units
Two identification units in Hypholoma are keyed out separately.
- Hypholoma section Psilocyboides differs from other sections of the genus by the solitary (rather than caespitose) fruit-bodies and the habit either among moss or on the ground or on litter or mulch.
- Hypholoma (other) covers all other Australian species of the genus. These usually form dense clusters of caespitose fruit-bodies.
- See also Leratiomyces ceres, until recently placed in Hypholoma as H. aurantiacum.
